The Institut de la Langue Régionale Flamande ANVT-ILRF offers local authorities and private companies its technical support for their sign policy in West Flemish so as to make our regional language more visible in public spaces. Road and street name signs, directional signs in facilities open to the public, product labels can be translated into the regional language, as is the case in other regions in France and abroad, and part of the costs can be covered by the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France.

We recommend the spelling set by the ILRF-ANVT commission for norms and used by West Flemish teachers so that signs and labels meet both the expectations of today’s life and the requirements of a standard spelling rather than historical spelling inconsistencies or fancies.
