The 2010 Regional Elections – Questions to candidates.

On the occasion of the forthcoming regional elections, the ANVT-ILRF did what it usually does on such occasions, that is : ask candidates their opinion and position about the promotion of the Flemisch regional language. Candidates ranking first on the list of each party were therefore sent a Motion for Flemisch. 
The candidates' replies will be published as soon as they are receveid.

5th Flemish Language and Music Festival in Bollezeele (Oct. 16-18 2009)

The 5th Flemish Language and Music Festival, which the Institute of the Regional Flemish Language organises every year, will be hosted in Bollezeele on the lands of Yzer Houck, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in the various, entertaining activities of both associations. The Institute of the Flemish Regional Language will coordinate initiation courses to Flemish for pupils from the town and the surrounding villages, set up a special meeting of rhetoricians, arrange exhibitions. It will also supervise a Flemish popular ball and a classical concert during which Flemish organ works from the 16th to the 20th century will be played, as well as traditional and contemporary Flemish music concerts. Yser Houck will offer visitors a whole range of Flemish traditional village festivities, humorous speeches, a Flemish meal, traditional sports, a mass with Flemish sermon, …  In a nutshell, this festival will be the perfect occasion for visitors, whether they speak Flemish or not, no matter where they come from, to have a pleasant week end in the very heart of French Flanders.

Flemish Rhetoricians’ evening meeting in Wormhout

The Institute of the Flemish Regional Language has taken part over the last five years in the Week of the French Language and France’s Languages in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture. This year again some students who attend the Flemish courses run by cultural associations have consequently composed texts and poems in Flemish and in French as well. They will declaim their pieces on the occasion of a Flemish rhetoricians evening meeting on Friday June 12th at 7 p.m. in Wormhout public library and resource centre. You are free to let the Flemish language speak to your heart.

Flemish courses and conversation groups starting again after summer break

The number of Flemish courses and conversation groups in the district of Dunkirk has increased from 12 in 2004 when the Institute of the Flemish Regional Language was created to 39 in the school year 2009-2010. Beginners and advanced learners can take one of the 21 courses provided by associations and municipalities in 15 communes. Primary school pupils from 6 communes may also attend one of the 12 existing Flemish classes (4 CE2, 4 CM1 and 4 CM2) in 3 state schools and 1 denominational school. The Institute of the Flemish Regional Language aims at promoting and developing those courses and conversation groups.

Open Letter to Mr Jean Delobel

On May 7th the Hazebrouck edition of La Voix du Nord issued an article on the 10th anniversary of the House of the Dutch Language (in Bailleul) with an interview of Jean Delobel as the foundator thereof. The ANVT-ILRF felt the need to send an open letter in reaction to some of his controversial or unfair statements about the Flemish regional language.
