4th WFW : Bilingual Heritage Hike in Esquelbecq

On Wednesday the participants of the Heritage Hike organised for the 4th West Flemish Week discovered the charming village of Esquelbecq where they were toured both in French and West Flemish

They enjoyed the sight of the castle and its garden, the former inn, the lovely Flemish village houses (Guernonval, Donkerwal, the Dequidt’s house, and those in the square), the hallekerke (hall church) which has been neatly rehabilitated after having been burnt down, the town hall and its orchard, and, to finish, the Plaine au Bois, a place of memory related to World War II. The hikers had the chance to visit the Thiriez Brewery and learn everything about how beer is made. And the proof was… in the drinking !
